Attorney Furkan Şahankaya graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law and pursued his academic career with a master’s degree in Insurance at Marmara University Institute of Banking and Insurance. Since joining Durukan Law Firm in 2017, he has consistently continued his legal career within the same institution, demonstrating both professional continuity and specialization.
He holds deep expertise in two major legal areas: insurance law and intellectual property law. In the field of insurance law, he focuses on resolving disputes related to contractors all risk, third-party liability, employer’s liability, cyber risks, mandatory LPG liability, and cargo insurance. With extensive knowledge and experience in these domains, he provides high-level legal consultancy to a diverse clientele. He also leads the Non-Auto Insurance Division within Durukan Law Firm—one of the firm’s most critical practice groups.
Furkan Şahankaya plays an active role in alternative dispute resolution, including settlements, mediation, and arbitration in insurance claim disputes. He is particularly recognized for his ability to provide strategic legal guidance in arbitration and recourse recovery claims, offering valuable insight and support to insurance companies and policyholders alike.
In addition, he practices extensively in the field of intellectual property law, offering strategic legal advice on the protection, enforcement, registration, and licensing of trademark, patent, and design rights. He has played a key role in litigation and enforcement processes, especially regarding counterfeit product prevention, unfair competition claims, and the commercial exploitation of intellectual property rights. His legal strategies have provided robust protection for numerous domestic and international brands.
Throughout his career, Furkan Şahankaya has also been actively involved in social responsibility projects and pro bono legal work, while continuously enhancing his professional development through participation in various certificate programs and legal training initiatives.
